The University of Pittsburgh Press wanted a modern, user friendly platform to replace their badly outdated legacy systems. Currently, the press uses a FileMaker Pro database to store and manage title data, marketing information and production data. Rights were managed in a separate database and royalties managed using Excel. Meanwhile, much critical book, author, and contract information is still trapped in paper files.
